As I mentioned previously, Aberdeen is the next Scottish city to go ahead with civil bus lane enforcement, and it looks like the 11 cameras are set to ‘go live’ on Monday April 1st.
According to the BBC, a recent test of the system using four cameras resulted in 1200 offences being detected in one day. A grace period has been mentioned where warnings will be sent instead of PCNs, but there is no indication of how long this will run for. I think it’s safe to assume that even with warning letters initially, there will be a lot of PCNs issued in the first month. Whether they are challenged at all is another thing.
