Although already covered in a previous blog post here, I thought this link to Private Eye was worth adding for their take on the situation. The original news was that 3 parking companies had been banned from the DVLA database, that may now have risen to 5 or 6 although I can’t see any additional names.
The interesting part from Private Eye is the following:
The BPA has written to members, warning them to check that their signs and correspondence are legally correct, since the DVLA is on the warpath. But the latest appointment to the AOS board is Mike Perkins, operations and strategy manager at, er, Combined Parking Solutions. Combined Parking Solutions is one of the companies serving a three-month ban from accessing the DVLA database!
I think that does raise an interesting question about how committed the industry really is to regulating itself.
