If you have seen any odd looking bumps in Westminster parking spaces recently, they are actually parking sensors which are being used in trialling a new system this October. According to the Westminster website they have installed sensors in certain bays, allowing real-time data to be made available on parking space availability. This can be checked by using an app made available via the Apple Store.
Some of the potential benefits they are investigating include pre-booking parking spaces, and variable rates based on peak times.
Hopefully if schemes like this are sucessul and see wider use, it could result in less frustration for drivers trying to park. It would also be interesting to see how this affects the number of PCNs issued in those areas.
Keep working ,splendid job!
